Piri Reis Marine Navigation ("the App") is operated by Kalynda Teknoloji Havacılık ve Turizm Limited Şirketi ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Location Data

The App collects GPS location data (latitude, longitude, speed, heading, accuracy) to provide navigation services. Location data is:

Used for real-time navigation display on the map
Stored locally on your device when you record a navigation session
Shared only when you explicitly use the Share or SOS features
Never sold to third parties

1.2 Weather Data Requests

The App sends your approximate location (map center coordinates) to Open-Meteo API to fetch weather and marine data. These requests do not include any personal identifiers.

1.3 Favorites and Navigation History

Favorite locations and navigation recordings are stored locally on your device using SQLite database. This data is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly share it.

1.4 SOS Emergency Contacts

Emergency contact names and phone numbers are stored locally on your device. They are used only when you activate the SOS feature to send your location via WhatsApp or SMS.

1.5 Analytics

We may collect anonymous usage analytics (app opens, feature usage, approximate location) to improve the App. Analytics data is:

Anonymized and aggregated
Not linked to personal identifiers
Transmitted via HMAC-signed requests
Stored on our secure servers

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide navigation, weather, and depth map services
To display your position on the map
To calculate routes, distances, and estimated arrival times
To send emergency location alerts (SOS feature, user-initiated only)
To improve the App based on anonymous usage patterns

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Data is shared only:

Open-Meteo: Approximate coordinates for weather data (no personal info)
EMODnet / GEBCO: Map tile requests (no personal info)
SOS contacts: Your location, only when you press the SOS button
Share feature: Your chosen data, only when you explicitly share

4. Data Storage and Security

Navigation recordings, favorites, and contacts are stored locally on your device
Analytics data is transmitted via HMAC-SHA256 signed HTTPS requests
We do not store passwords, payment information, or government IDs
You can delete all local data by clearing the app data or uninstalling

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party data sources:

OpenStreetMap / CARTO: Base map tiles (open data)
EMODnet: Bathymetry depth data (EU open data)
GEBCO: Global depth contours (IHO/UNESCO public domain)
OpenSeaMap: Nautical chart overlays (open data)
Open-Meteo: Weather and marine forecast data
RainViewer: Precipitation radar imagery

Each service has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your locally stored data (navigation history, favorites)
Delete your data by clearing app storage
Disable location permissions in your device settings
Disable analytics in the App settings
Request deletion of any server-side analytics data by contacting us

8. GDPR / KVKK Compliance

For users in the European Union and Turkey, we comply with GDPR and KVKK regulations. Location data is rounded to reduce precision for analytics purposes. You may exercise your data rights by contacting us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the App and on our website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
